VTCT LEVEL 4 AWARD IN HAIR REDUCTION USING LASER SYSTEMS

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills when performing professional hair reduction treatments using Light Amplification by the Stimulation Emissions of Radiation (LASER) systems. The unit covers the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation to establish client suitability for treatment and the knowledge of how to devise a specific treatment plan, tailored to suit individual client needs. Learners will also develop knowledge and understanding of LASER systems and wavelengths used for the treatment of different hair colours and skin types alongside other factors that may affect or influence the rate of hair growth and hair reduction. Learners will also develop the knowledge required to provide relevant pre and post-treatment advice to ensure the client receives the full benefit of the treatment and to maximise treatment results.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

In small groups of 4-6 students, you will learn face-to-face at our academy based in Southsea, Portsmouth. The practical training days will be from 10am-4pm on Sunday’s - this is perfect for those who work full time!

On the first day of the course, you will learn about the theory behind lasers which includes: • LASER physics

• Wavelengths

• Laser classification

• The difference between Laser and IPL After this, you will learn how to perform hair reduction using our Diode laser system on various body areas and hair types.

The practical training days will include:

• Risk assessment

• Health and safety

• Client care and communication

• Consultations

• Consent forms

• Skin types

• Hair cycle stages

• Contraindications

• Treatment protocols

• Patch testing procedure

• Pre-treatment preparation

• Aftercare

Once you have completed all practical training and coursework, you will carry out a practical assessment to achieve your VTCT qualification. Upon completion of this course, you will be a fully qualified and insurable laser therapist!

A good level of education is required to be able to complete written assignments

Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology OR Level 3 Beauty qualification

FUTHER INFORMATION:

This course specifically focuses on LASER and does not include IPL training – you will only be qualified to carry out LASER treatments. If you wish to carry out IPL treatments, you will need to enrol onto a separate IPL course. Places on our course are first come first serve, if you wish to enrol you will need to pay a £400 non-refundable deposit to secure your place. The remaining balance will need to be paid 4 weeks before the start date. We can only register students once the full balance has been paid.
